While I enjoyed some of the mini-essays in this book (in particular, the poignant closing reflection was quite well written), it did make me realize that I've really slipped out of the mainstream of our culture... Even though I could identify with some of the awesome experiences described therein (e.g., flipping over your pillow in the middle of the night, playing on old playgrounds), many of them center on circumstances/situations that are not part of my adult life, like purchasing fast food or driving automobiles. As a result, while I certainly admire the author's humanistic impulse, I found that the execution occasionally left me a little cold. That said, it does cheer me that a book so obviously grounded in the life-affirming attempt to embrace life's little pleasures has been so successful.

Kelly OMG! I loved this line. . ."it did make me realize that I've really slipped out of the mainstream of our culture"
That captures me perfectly. I have thinking about that same concept as well.
