Read from August 25 to 29, 2011

This was a hard book to read, and there were some moments when I wished I could just scream at Emma Jean or Perfect to give them some understanding. But I had to constantly remind myself that in the context of when this story took place, not too many people would have said anything. As angry as parts of this book made me, I had to keep reading.

There were moments when I cringed wondering what would happen to Perfect and how s/he would get past this particular point or eventually learn to live with and love who he was and would become. I can't imagine a mother doing this to her child. As I discussed the storyline with others while reading it, Emma Jean's decision ignited some interesting conversation.

I really enjoyed this book.
