I added a lot of books I love, so I figure I'd add one I loath to balance things out. I hated this book so much I think it gave me a hate aneurysm . I hate this book because it advocates pedophilia, and defends it with a rationalization ripped straight from some fat greaseball's pro-kiddy love webpage. Here it is: see, it's not the molestation that actually hurts little girls, it's those awful American sexual mores and taboos. People are much better off in Thailand, where underage girls can become prostitutes and strippers free of guilt.

Since all this crap is spouted by a horrible, transparent authorial stand-in, I'm going to assume he represents Tom Robbins' real opinions, and we can expect to see Robbins on Dateline any day now. There are lots of other reasons to despise this book, but if pedophilia doesn't scare you off, I don't think warnings about atrocious writing, sloppy plotting, or awful characterization will either.
