john fowles may well be the strangest author i have read. this book is so totally original that it left me with the feeling that i dreamed having read it.
the plot defies explanation, and anyone who tells you it was boring didn't read the whole thing (if they had, they would have told you something to the effect that it was boring AND utterly bizarre).
