9.0% "Bought this at a library sale despite never having been able to finish it. I really like the opening sentence ("The primroses were over") and the rabbit mythology (the Prince with a Thousand Enemies!) but the story itself is pretty dull, with all the characters mushing together so that you can barely tell who is talking or why it's significant."

It has the same kind of frank, unsentimental feeling that the original Bambi did, and it comments about humans and animals in the same way. The cross-species communication is fascinating. The characters are currently encountering a hawk, who I think may have informed a few of the "bird-of-prey" characters that drop into the Redwall series."
