it was amazing

I really liked this book. The pacing was fantastic--I figured out fairly early who was responsible and why, yet I had no idea how the story was going to end. The characters were compelling and fully developed, from the lead character (Carl Mørck, in the tradition of flawed Nordic leading men) to his assistant Assad to the victim (Merete Lynggard). Along with the gloom there is humor, actual laugh-out-loud bits. Adding this author to my list of series to follow.
