What is this? Fantasy? Sci-Fi? Historical fiction? Horror?
I think it has a touch of all of it. It is still haunting me, after taking a full week to read it (kept putting it down, but wanting to finish it), and now has been several days since I did finish it. I "enjoyed" the last third better than the rest - I guess I'm not used to reading about the monsters that I cannot see. The time shifts were unsettling to me, but well done.
What audience is this written for? I doubt I will give it to my middle school kids, although one or two may appreciate it later.
