I can't really put my finger on it, though i do remember being a bit bored reading it, which is really odd since i always tend to devour a gaiman book. I think it was while reading it that i found out Gaiman had this huge campaign going about protection of intellectual property, and yet he borrows everything from everyone...
or maybe it was just that it took place in america?
Funny you should say...I felt the same way about Anansi Boys. I'd looked so forward to reading it and when I finally did I just felt bored during it.
I kind of like the America Gaiman wrote about in this book. In fact I sort of feel that's the kind of America I could get behind.
I guess to me it's the ultimate in historical fiction, which I adore. Take mythology, change the history of it, bring it to here and now, reveal the fallibility and quirks of the gods.
It's been so long since I read it; I think I need to give it another go. Of course, it joins a list of books a foot long I'd like to eventually read, once I have the time.
