Thank you William Gibson for providing exactly what the world doesn't need: another purile genre of self-serving fantasy.
The first few pages of Neuromancer caught me and dragged me in with it's cold war burnout and hacker ninja icons. I'm a generation X slacker who did a brief stint at a dot com just to experience the Y2K apocalypse and IPO mania, and yes I do own at least one functional asian martial arts weapon.
But then I noticed something: it goes on like this! I put the book down and I have never felt the urge to pick it up again, any more than I have felt the urge to finish The Lord of the Rings after suffering through a few pages of overly descriptive Hobbit Birthday Drama.
