I almost gave up on this one...

There were several things that irritated me about this book. The first is Ares, one of the leading characters. I couldn't stand him at first. He's an ASS... I've read other likable characters before that were asses, but for whatever reason I just couldn't get with Ares. Also, none of the characters really seemed believable to me at first. They all seemed a bit cheesy. I was also really irritated by the fact that Alena has gray hair. Whats up with that?

But then something happened. Violence... Some of the most violent violence I've ever read. (view spoiler) I'm not very shock-able, but some of the stuff I read in this book almost shocked me. It was the shock factor that kept me from shelving this book, and then as I continued to read, the plot thickened and got more interesting.

There are still several things that I didnt like about the book. It was published by a small publishing company, and apparently they didn't have an editing budget because there were many many misspellings, typos, and grammatical errors. I had to go back several times and re-read a sentence before I understood what was being said. Even if there was no money to pay an editor, why didn't they at least run spell check? That's free! (view spoiler) But all in all, the story was good, so 3 stars it is...

Nothing shocks me and I'm not easily offended, so I never cringe, but I actually cringed a little during one of the descriptions. This book just got a little more interesting. NOW I think I maybe can finish it. (ha ha)"
