I had always wondered how a righteous king could possibly be the son of a terribly wicked father. This book gave me the insight I was looking for. King Hezekiah of the Old Testament was such a man.
In addition to providing details about the life, customs, challenges of those times, the author subtly makes the reader aware of the power of the individual, be it for good or ill. I was defintely hooked for the rest of the 5 volume series.
