I loved this entire series, and was sad to leave Hickam and Coalwood when it was over. I related to Homer as the younger brother who never achieves the social status of his older brother, but has his own integrity and is willing to stand up for himself. But being the son of "the boss", he does have status in the town, and is in a great position to observe. Who'd have thought a coal town would be so much fun?
