There's no question but Georgette Heyer knows how to write a good story. But whether or not you enjoy this book will probably depend upon your enjoyment of Antonia and Kenneth Vereker, two of the primary suspects. I personally found the brother and sister to be a too bit too precious for my taste. I also disliked the fact that despite the oft repeated mention of a twinkle in his eye, Heyer's detective, Superintendent Hannasyde, failed to solve the mystery - it's solved by someone not connected with the police force. Yet Heyer manages to keep the story moving forward to the end, without too many lulls. And so although I wouldn't say this is a "must read," there are worse ways to spend a long afternoon.
