So the main case Riley is working on is zombies! Someone is raising zombies and killing vampires, and Riley and her directorate team are trying to catch them, which of course involves undercover work at strip bar, and working around the interfering killer-for-hire Kye, while wondering what this new awareness is between them.

Kye was a twist, and I think that while I'm disappointed in the lack of sex compared to the first few novels, this series has taken a upturn in the last few books after a small slump in the middle. I am very impressed that Arthur has managed to struggle past the point that kills most great series and I am eagerly anticipating the next book.
