As much of a Seuss fan as I am, this is one book I had not read until tonight when I read it to my son. Yes, it does not have his usual Seuss style we all grew to love, and yes, it is a long read. But, there is a great story in this book that was enjoyable for me to read and for my son to listen to. Even though it did not have a number of picture, while reading this book I could see the scenes in my head as I was reading it to my son. According to the copyright, it was written in 1938, and I can see how it was written for its time. It was written for children who gained their entertainment from listening to the radio, reading books, having books read to them, and using their imaginations when they played outside. Although this book is not the "traditional Seuss", I highly recommend this book.
