Read in January, 2009

I got through 78 pages of this book before I dropped it. It was supposed to be this thrilling, exciting novel filled with mystery, but I just found it uncommonly not worth reading. I thought that the bouncing between present and past was disjointed and annoying. The characters were weird, and I never found myself believing in any of them or caring for their well-being. I also thought it was a tad bit gruesome, there were parts that I thought should have been left with not quite so many details. I really didn't care for this book and would definitely not recommend it.

Meredith Not amazing.

Snorkle yeah, wellll...I just read the inside flap last night....it is exactly the sort of book that I would enjoy immensely. (sarcasm duly noted.)

Meredith hahaaaa

Meredith Ok that is just wierd. We both couldn't finish this book? What is up with the Printz people?!? On another note, have you liked ANY of the Printzes so far?

Snorkle Weelllll....I got through about 78 pages of this book before I decided that I just didn't feel like reading the rest. I was pretty sure that if I did decide to finish it it would still get a rating of 1 or 2 and I would have wasted all that time...so I chucked it. I don't KNOW what is up with those Printz people, it is almost starting to make me angry. I really don't know why they choose the books they do. I just don't know. I can't think of any that I have liked so far...AARRGGHH!

Meredith boooooo! Fire them! FIRE THEM ALL! sorry, I am just really hyper right now...

Snorkle Hahah...but seriously? I mean, I think that the only ones that I've liked are ones that I read years and years ago and didn't even know that they were Printzes. And now all the ones that I have been reading lately are totally obnoxious.

Meredith argh...that's pretty frustrating. I mean...I don't OOH WAIT I FORGOT THAT I WAS SPEAKING IN CAPS!!! I MEAN I DON'T REMEMBER READING ANY PULITZERS I LIKED EXCEPT "HOUSE OF THE SCORPION", WHICH WAS AMAZING. OTHER THAN THAT, I THINK THE WHOLE DEAL HAS GONE DOWNHILL.

Snorkle Hahaha...I like your transition from regular to CAPS! I know that I've only liked a couple that I read in the past....House of the Scorpion, Airborn, Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy, A Northern Light, and a Wreathe for Emmett Till...those are the only Printz books that I've given 5 stars. And probably the vast majority have gotten 1 star...

message 10: by Luann (new)

Luann I haven't read that many of the Printz books yet, but I did just read two Printz Honor books that I really liked - The Book Thief and Speak. I LOVED The Book Thief.

Snorkle For some odd reason I didn't have The Book Thief in my Printz Honor shelf - odd. I just added it. I did really enjoy that book and I would recommend it, as well as all the books in the post 2 above this one. But I have having an awfully difficult time liking most of the Printz books I have been reading lately. I either can't finish them, or end up finishing them and giving them a low rating. It is baffling how much I strongly disagree with these books that are getting awarded and held up in esteem.

Meredith OOOH yes, the book thief was good. Printz people temporarily forgiven.

Snorkle Haha...how quick you forgive...

Meredith note--'temporarily'

Snorkle Duly noted.
