I don't like this series as much as I liked (loved) the Vanished series. That being said, Suze is a really great protagonist, and you can feel the worry piling up when she has to come up with excuses for her bizarre behaviour (which really can only be explained by saying she's a mediator). Jesse's also great, and makes me wish I had a Jesse of my very own (alive, of course).

Meg Cabot does a phenomenal job of writing about the supernatural, while keeping both feet firmly planted in the "real world," so that even readers who aren't fans of vampires can still enjoy the books.
