Read from August 17 to 30, 2011

Doesn't quite live up to its promise - Jack Kerouac's infamous rambling prose gets out of hand here and the focus is much too scattered. This can be said for pretty much any of his books, but here it feels more like he's blowing hot air. I wish it had spent more time focusing on his childhood and his relationship with his older brother instead of trying to imagine how all the adults in the town would have been living their boring, alcohol-driven lives.
