A story about two Afghan women, Mariam & Laila in the midst of Afghanistan's chaotic history. The novel portrays how the constantly changing political situation & war-lords impact an individual's family & village life.
I felt the suffering & pain Mariam & Laila go through to endure the oppression & wars. Behind the difficulties & uncertainties, there's this atmosphere of hope displayed by the characters. I did not shed a tear, but yes, there's a lump in my throat.
I was enthralled with Hosseini's exceptional storytelling & powerful emotions.
