I have a Hagrid-sized place in my heart for the Harry Potter series. You can argue against them all you like, and if your points are valid and not just the knee-jerk reactions to hype than many have proven to be, I’ll even agree with you. My admission that there may be weaknesses in these books in no way diminishes my love. It is a wordless, intuitive thing but by no means fragile. I have read and re-read them to the point of losing count. I didn’t pick them up to see “what the fuss was all about;” my introduction was accidental and fortuitous. I can’t bring myself to write the straightforward reviews I am used to; their effect on me is too elemental and non-academic for a rigorous analysis. Are they perfect? No. Would I change them? No.

Ellie I feel the same way about the series, which I discovered because they began when my daughter was about 8 & I read them to her.

At first-then I read them for myself.
