Anna's review
Eragon (Inheritance, Book 1)
by Christopher Paolini
I really wanted to read this book too... but never made it past the first chapter. I saw the movie and liked it so maybe I could try to read it again, but after Anna's review... maybe not.
Of course this means that I will eventually read the sequal, because now I'm invested. I hate getting suckered in.

I was excited to read this based on the amount of hype it received. It could have been better. It had a good skeleton, and potential, it just never developed into a really good story. The passages were too long, too flowery, and too artificially intellectual. Why did you have me go scrambling for a dictionary?! Seriously, this is a lukewarm fantasy written in the 21st century. There is no need to pretend you are a) 120 years old, b) lived in the 18th century and dined with the Bronte sisers, and c) talented and educated.
