Anna's review
Abarat, Book 1: Abarat
by Clive Barker
LOVE. Anna introduced me to this one I think and it was insanely addicting. I'm so not a Clive Barker fan so I was leery at first, but it was such a great book that I quickly got over the fact that it was written by a horror king.

This is a complex and lovely fairy tale for the modern set. As in any other Clive Barker work, the characters are amazing and developed, the scenery is magical, and it provokes wishful thinking of being able to actually travel to Abarat. I am very impatiently awaiting the third installment.
