so far, out of the 5 books this has been the weakest for me. as the rating system says, this book was 'ok'. a lot of recap. a lot of filler (ie. street names, what's for supper, etc).

******************some spoilers************************

i was absolutely not impressed with how avis and her new husband handled the abuse of rochelle. i found it old fashioned, cruel, and misguided. how could you send your daughter that has been abused away not once, not twice, but three times? and then on the third time send her to shelter? what i was also more un-impressed with is that none of the other yada yada women stepped in to intervene and help avis to do the right thing. they all just shrugged their shoulders and accepted it (except for a few comments made by stu).

i am also not following this illegal pit bull dog fighting that delores' husband is involved in (sort of?). it seems like such an awful, cruel thing and yet everyone just kind of shrugs and prays for delores and her husband. it's such a minor plot line and yet it seems so big to me.

another issue that i'm beginning to have is that do none of these women any other friends or family? there is a big crisis and the first people that get called are the yada yada's. what about parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, friends, co-wokers? i find it so difficult to believe that when ruth has all the hospitilizations and delivery of the twins that they have no other friends or family there? or when avis is having difficulties she only turns to yada yada sisters? weird.

i did appreciate that jodi realized that it was important to go visit her parents at thanksgiving. i said hallelugiah at that!

another thing i don't get is the covers of the book. what does the yarn theme have to do with the book? other then the fact that there is a couple references to one of the characters knitting. the other books had frying pans, boxing gloves, a disco ball, a cloud. & why the socks? & why the gerbera daisies? they are bright cheerful covers...but odd at the same time. lol. just my little annoyance.

so, i did find this the weakest of the five and the least enjoyable, but i will continue on with the other 2 books and the spin off series.
