A few chapters in and it's academic, somewhat heady stuff; he does a fair job of explaining the empirical data backing up the research that's been done in the field of positive psychology. I'm more interested in the application of positive psychology to an individual's life, but can get there picking my way through the lingo.

Dr. Seligman has been surrounded by academics most of his adult life and it's probably challenging for him to not speak the language as a matter of second nature. This book is worthwhile, however, in that it takes an optimistic road to help improve environments in schools, families, organizations, the government, and the military. Makes good sense and is rather exciting. I'm glad he wrote the book and shared with us how he has opened his eyes to the possibilities of applied positive psychology.
