really liked it
bookshelves: history, memoir
Read from August 13 to September 01, 2011

Ishmael Beah grew up in the interior of Sierra Leone when a rebellion erupted when he was 12, destroying his happy childhood and separating him from his family. By the time he was 13 he was a boy solider fighting for the government's army. His engrossing account of the war years and his rehabilitation is worth a read.
