bookshelves: five-star-books

** spoiler alert ** I read this book years ago. I read the first Interview with the Vampire book by Anne Rice and didn't love it (first book I've ever read where I liked the movie better despite the fact that I dislike Tom Cruise intensely) but I gave this first Mayfair Witch book a go anyway.

Big wow! I just loved the story of the witches down through the centuries, the history and what happened to them all. It's one of the best books I've read. Even though I read it years ago it has stuck with me big time. So I've given it a five star rating for my remembering it down through the years as a very interesting and fascinating book. I particularly loved this book for the middle portion where the history of each of the witches and what happened to them was related.

I have to say though that as a romance fan, as a spoiler, it can't be classified as a romance because it doesn't have a HEA. But please read it anyway for the rest of the story, it's fascinating. This is the first of three in the series. If I remember correctly, I didn't really enjoy the next two books anywhere near as much, but this book can be read as a standalone without reading the rest of them. I can't recommend it highly enough.
