This book sets out the political and romantic exploits of Phineas Finn, an Irish lawyer looking to break into the world of Parliament (as well as the highbrow social scene in London). Phineas is a likable character and I enjoyed the whirlwind of his potential romantic entanglements as well as witnessing his rise to political stardom. What stuck with me most of all about this book was how happy I was with his choice of marriage partner at the end of the book. Oh, so very happy. I had expected it to go another way and was so thrilled that Trollope had Phineas make the choice he did. Right honorable. :D
