Read from August 12 to 21, 2011

My feelings on ‘Boy Proof’ are positive, but mixed. While I absolutely loved the characters and story, I felt the events unfolded far too rapidly, and therefore felt somewhat unrealistically. I think an extra 50-100 pages was needed to bridge the emotional gaps the protagonist was suddenly facing- after all, how do you go from being a choice loner to wanting a relationship in the space of a few months? There were also a few inconsistencies in the narrative (one moment your in the quad, then by the lockers with no link, etc). That being said, it is so nice to read about alternative characters in YA fiction, which doesn't happen nearly enough as I’d like. I loved how realistically obssessed Egg was (I remember wanting to be my favourite character/actress when I was 17 as well!), and how her alienation came across. 3.5/5
