I'm not sure how I feel about this book.
I liked Kitty's growth from submissive doormat to someone with a little more oomph in her back pocket but she hasn't quite changed because she's still kind of wussy at the end. I wanted her to go all the way at the end (view spoiler)
And how was the preternatural community not more than pissed at her for outing ALL of them. I felt like all the problems were solved with a pat on the back. Big bad woo-woo hunter comes gunning for her? Aaaand...there's some metaphorical fist bumping and he becomes...her back up? Really? Big bad woo-woo peeps are out to kill her and...they're all "My bad. You're forgiven." Say what? She just totally outed EVERYBODY. And the world is all "Gosh there really are creatures that go bump in the night? Coooooool." How does nobody have a problem with this...at all????? Everyone (good guys, bad guys, random people on the radio) were just so...freakin' accepting.
I did like the big-bad woo-woo hunter though I wished he was a little more bad ass...and shaved. A mustache? Really? How...90s romance.
I do however love T.J. T.J. is the bomb.
I guess I feel like I kept waiting for something more to happen. For that envelope to be pushed...just a little more. For Kitty to become more assertive and sure of herself. For Cormac to be a little more bad ass and say the real problem he has with her is she's what he hunts. Man up. For the villains to be a little more scarier. For the dark plot points to be a little more willing to go where I kept expecting them to go.
I just wanted...more. I'm still not sure if I'm going to do book 2. Like I said...I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. But the more I think about it...the less I'm liking it. Bummer. I was looking forward to finding another new series.
