Basically an enjoyable though not compelling read; a bit gruesome in the details about WWI war injuries. Although art and art study was a continuing theme throughout the book, I'd hoped for more of that and less of the life of being on the front lines during the war. There were interesting questions about life, art, and war raised.

Sherry (sethurner) I'll be interested to see what you think of this one, it certainly has lots to do with art. Interestingly, I read another WWI book with an art slant, Rules for Old Men Waiting. It isn't as dense as Life Class, but still worth a look.
