it was amazing
Read from August 12 to September 02, 2011

I read this book a few years ago and adored it. I was nervous that I wouldn't feel the same way on the re-read, but I'm happy to report that I still adore this book. It's definitely for nerds, but kind of the same way that Lord of the Rings is for nerds. It follows a nerd family (the Waterhouses) and an adventurer family (the Shaftoes) in WWII and the modern era, both related to ideas in cryptography. I might reread the whole Baroque cycle next - the Waterhouses and Shaftoes show up there, too, and I already miss them a bit.
