this was definitely one of the more interesting and compelling reads of the year for me. i found the book utterly fascinating and very readable considering it's non-fiction. i usually take longer to get through non-fiction reads, but this one was like a page turner for me. i thought it was interesting to learn about the family of henrietta as well as the scientific history of her cells. as a warning, the lives of her children and grandchildren are definitely not sugar-coated and there are for sure some disturbing things that they experience. however, i still really liked the book and thought it raised a lot of good, ethical questions with regards to medical and scientific research.
