Gotta admit it. I was disappointed. You know I love Mr. Edgerton's work, but this one didn't grab me until I was far into it. If I was a jazz lover, I would have enjoyed it more, but I didn't really "get" all the discussion about beats and chords, etc. I will listen to the music discussed in the book and then read it again. Also, I was reading so fast because I wanted to know what was going to happen, which is not a good thing to do when a book jumps around so much (I got confused). It will be good to read it more slowly and savor the language and the wonderfully described characters, which are the best parts of Edgerton's books. I'm guessing I'll give it more stars after that...
