The Smell of the Night (Salvú Montalbano, #6)

Another excellent Guido Mantalbano novel. A con-artist has managed to make a killing taking the life savings of a number of pensioners in a pyramid scheme before disappearing. Is he living the life of Riley on some Polynesion Island as everyone suspects? Are the Mafiosa involved ? Theories abound. It is not Montalbano's case as he is assigned to 'trivial' crime such as parking offences. Nevertheless he solves the crime working through community gossip and his extensive friendship network. I found the ending both surprising and gruesome.
What I like about this series, apart from Guido's grumpiness, is the translation which is excellent.
