The first French book I've ever read in full! I'm ever so proud of myself. This book was a simpler version than the original book, being one of the "easy reads" series. For me, this was perfect. My French is not so good and having these easy reads is actually really helpful. I do think I've learned a lot, but for the book review, that's beside the point.

This is the childhood story of Marcel, who meets a new friend on holiday, Lili, and talks about the hunts and their adventures. But holidays come to an end and Marcel does not want to leave.. I was actually very taken in with this part of the book, I found the children (mostly) delightful and, maybe it was the easy reads edition, there was just such loveliness to the text that I couldn't help but love it. The edition is adorned with explanations and drawings of difficult words and some drawings to describe scenes. As an easy read, it is a very good book for someone studying French.

And I checked Wikipedia, and it seems they haven't left that much of the story out! So yes, I was quite pleased with this book.

Ruby I think I must do this to, then, even though it hurts my heart a tiny bit. But it would be so worth it if it could help me! So thank you for the idea xx

Sandra I think it does help.. now, I think your French is better than mine but these books enable you to read books a bit more on your own level.. I used to dislike these type of books, especially the English one, 'cause the library usually only has the easy reads and not the actual books I want to read, but now I'm extremely gratful, haha! They've got a couple more, so I think I might read some more in French sometime. But if you do decide to read easy reads, I hope it'll be as useful for you as it was for me. xx
