Corduroy Mansions is perhaps generally the least satisfying of Alexander McCall Smith's always satisfying stable of novel series. However, I enjoyed A Conspiracy of Friends more than its predecessors - perhaps it just takes this long to get to know everyone. I love the way almost all of McCall Smith's human characters tend to overthink things.

There's very obviously more to come from Corduroy Mansions and that's an agreeable thought.
