Wow. This book is incredible. It's heartbreaking and the atrocities of war (on both sides) is presented. Louis is an incredible man, who while flawed (and he's honest about his flaws), figured out how to survive in some of the most horrific conditions.

As I was reading I kept telling my husband what he went through. My husband kept asking, "How did he survive?" Who knows but this is a powerful book and the writing is flawless. I haven't read Hillenbrand's other book but I just may have too now. Everyone should read this one though.
