Disappointing. My least favorite of the series. It should have been a short story. I still love Harry and I'm not giving up on him, but.... this didn't live up to the other ones at all. I kind of feel cheated actually.

Maureeng Loved, loved, loved this series! My sister got me hooked when she sent all of the titles that had been published up till that time and I read all of them, one right after the other so I was really in the Wizard Zone. I found myself speculating about odd movements out of the corner of my eye and especially hair Normanites. Could they be? Hmmm ...
If it weren't for the occasional "adult" moments, I'd have all of these in my middle school library. One of my boy readers was reading his dad's copies only slightly after I got mine in the mail and we really enjoyed talking about the way magic existed in Chicago and the world, and how it co-existed with the "real" world and non believers. For some reason, even though he was a cold blooded killer, I enjoyed reading about the mobster who, every once in awhile, showed he had a heart. I guess that just proves how good a writer Butcher is.

Karin I completely agree about putting them in the middle school library. The kids would eat them up. I love how Butcher writes Harry in such a great way. He is a wonderful character. I laugh out loud so much from his quick wit. Have you read this one yet?

Maureeng I've read up to and including #12 and have been waiting for #13 which was supposed to be published in April but I was a little busy then and didn't realize the pub date had been pushed back to July.

I've put it on hold at PLS but may drop by Borders sometime soon to see how much it would cost at "going out of business" sales. I'll look for the book of short stories starring Harry too--that one slipped by me.

Karin Yeah, SIDE JOBS. I haven't read that one yet. I'm reading an ebook version that I checked out from the Metropolitan library system. I need to see if they have SIDE JOBS. Thanks for reminding me about that one. Wow! In number 12 CHANGES how about that ending. I just about threw the book across the room when that happened. I was so ready for him and Karrin to get together!!!

Maureeng Me too but it's Harry so things have a tendency NOT to work out for him. One of the other small details I love about this series is how the fairies whom he's been feeding pizzas on a regular basis call him those crazy titles. It's an extra bit of Harry that the author shows us. Of course, it also makes me want to leave our pizza crusts out in the yard but I fight that urge since I don't think my yuppie neighbors would appreciate moldy pizza crusts. Maybe if I got them all reading Harry, they'd let me.

Karin I love Toot Toot. Him and his little bottle cap shield.
