really liked it
bookshelves: twice-read-or-more, movie-too
Read in January, 1966

It seems crazy to rate anything of Twain's fewer than five stars, because there's no one quite like him. When I was younger, I preferred this over Huckleberry Finn--I think because I'd seen the old black-and-white film version and liked the little romance between Tom and Becky. The dead cat part weirded me out and still does. And having a villain named "Injun Joe" doesn't really work anymore.
