When my husband and I moved in together, we had a small apartment and a ridiculous number of books. We've weeded our collection and learned to use the library. As I read about Elizabeth Brown, I have to admit that I am greatly relieved that I have not accidentally turned into a woman with thousands and thousands of books.

I loved Sarah Stewart's rhyming story and, even more than that, I loved David Small's illustrations. David Small is so talented and his illustrations truly enhance the story. The story itself is sweet, funny, and touching, but the illustrations bring Elizabeth Brown's love of books to life.

This isn't a story that kids will necessarily read and love by themselves. But it's a story that is very well done and has a powerful message. It's definitely one to share with students in the library or classroom.
