This is a lovely, fun romance about a young couple whose fathers are ultimately unsuccessful in keeping them apart, though the lovers must suffer through seven years of hurt and anger and bitterness before they learn what actually happened and how they had been mislead.

It is clear in this book that Robert's father is sorry that his misguided attempt to get his son to find a suitable bride has resulted in his son being a bitter man who is not inclined to choose any bride and who has no interest in a relationship with his father. There is nothing in this book about Victoria's father's feelings about what he did to break the couple apart though there is a mention of Robert and Victoria going to visit him after they are married and beginning the healing process. Since I now see that this is part of a series, I hope their is more about that in Eleanor's story.
