Ben Elton once again skewers the idea of "reality television",but not as cleverly as he did in Dead Famous. This time he takes aim at the American Idol phenomenon, and takes us behind the scenes of a 'talent' contest where drama and controversy(whether manufactured or real) are the order of the day.As the Simon Cowell character says "The singing has nothing to do with it."Things fall apart towards the end as the plot takes some ridiculous turns, but still worth reading. If you haven't read Ben Elton before,I'd still recommend Dead Famous as a better place to start.
