Warren Jeffs has just been convicted of child abuse and I wanted to read this book to understand the FLDS world and how people can be brainwashed to believe it is okay to let your little girl marry at age 14. I couldn't put the book down, but found it to be too long and not well written. My heart goes out to all those involved in with this misogynistic world.

Elissa explains the life in this plural marriage well, but did anyone else wonder about the lack of knowledge regarding sex? I guess I still wonder if the wives sometimes have their husbands leave their bed after sex to go to another wife? I mean, talk about resentment! I totally understand the protective and competitive nature in the household with all those kids and competition for money and resources, but also "keeping sweet" after sex with their "husband"? Seems impossible.

I give Elissa Wall a ton of credit for leaving and wish her only the best for the future. If you want to read a book about FLDS, this is a fast read and explains why people stay in the religion and how the brainwash is so powerful.
