Read in January, 2005

A student left a copy of this book in my room, and one afternoon I picked it up and read it. While I'm sad to say that I probably stuck with it for 100 pages or more, I couldn't have been less thrilled. The way this book glamourizes drugs, sex and alcohol makes me realize why TV is getting as bad as it is. I don't know why young women would want to read about such shallow, tawdry lives. Perhaps I just don't get it because I'm not "in the demo", but unless the point is to show how sad and empty the lives of the main characters are, it is entirely lost upon me.

Autumn Hogue and why did YOU read it?

message 2: by Tim (new) - rated it 1 star

Tim To try to keep in touch with what students are reading. Doing so helped me find Harry Potter and the Hunger Games books. But the lure of this and Twilight completely escapes me,

Autumn Hogue youre not a girl...

Tim I have a classroom that is routinely filled with students, 180 days a year. Sorry if that was unclear.
