Christina Henry created a delightful world in Black Wings and I was quite excited about my return visit by way of her latest book, Black Night. Her main character Madeline Black is an intriguing woman with rather unusual relatives. After all she is Lucifer's granddaughter. As if dealing with fallen angels isn't bad enough, her grandfather sends her on a delicate diplomatic mission to the faerie court. Nice, when you have no diplomatic experience and have been informed that the last emissary was decapitated. But Maddy has more on her plate for there's a mystery to be solved.

Black Night offers a mystery, fast action, wonderful characters including a kick-ass heroine, who isn't afraid to get in the face of the Faery Queen. It's another great book by an author who is rising fast in my list of favourite authors!
