Sym is an outcast teenage girl with an imaginary friend and an obssession with Antarctica. her uncle Victor is a self-proclaimed genius obsessed with finding Symmes Hole, a fragile area in the earth's crust where he can gain access to the worlds inside the earth itself. What starts as the Antarctic vacation of a lifetime spirals into a surreal nightmare as Sym has to survive the elements and her uncle's plans. I think it'd be a good discussion book, and would also recommend for readers who like piecing together reality from unreliable narration.
