Starts off with one of the most thrilling and captivating first chapters I've come across in a while. The familiar characters are back- D'Agosta with his cigars, wily Smithback. The information about the underworld is interesting and shocking. I was disappointed with The Wrinklers, I think their apperence could have been more horrific (maybe ritualistic mutilation or macabre tokens?) The old man face was not very scary and I would have loved if their appereance was equal to how dark and terrifying their home was. The ending twist really came out of nowhere for me, even with the somewhat plauisible explination, the shock of the reveal, I still found it somewhat lackluster. And where did The Wrinklers get the black robes from? Occult R' Us? Frock passed them out? In my opinion they would have been better "monsters" if they had been more beastial and primitive. The book is a fun ride even with just a okay ending. The details about the underground tunnels are by themselves worth the read.
