Took to listening to the soundtrack of the broadway show recently and was inspired to finally finish this book. To me, it didn't really get interesting until the last 30% of the story. I understand that the story is backstory, but it seemed like so much of this was backstory to the backstory. Plus I found it hard to follow the invented politics and religions, although I thought it was a great idea to make Oz a real place with such complications.

I think I was expecting more of Elphaba's POV throughout "The Wizard of Oz," and was disappointed when that part of her story only showed up in the last fifty or so pages.
