** spoiler alert ** I really liked this book, although it did make me cry. Jude is the mother of twins, Mia and Zach. Zach is the popular one, and Mia is kinda of an outcast. Mia then makes a friend, Lexi, and then her and Lexi become best friends. When the three of them go to a party, Zach, who is suppose to be the designated driver gets drunk and can't drive, Lexi decides to drive since she hasn't drank that much. Lexi hits a tree a mile from home, and kills Mia. Jude hates Lexi from that point on, she also falls into what she calls "the gray". she is put on antidepressants and sees a therapist. She sleeps a lot, and completely ignores her husband and her son. Lexi is sent to prison for Mia's death, and while in prison she finds she is pregnant with Zach's baby. She signs custody over to Zach, who accepts the baby, while Jude doesn't accept it. Jude is afraid Lexi will tear apart what is left of her family, even though she doesn't accept Grace, Lexi's daughter, she still fills the need to protect her from Lexi. Lexi spend 7 years in prison for Mia's death, when she is released, she wants to see Grace to make sure she is happy, but the only way to do this is to face Jude. I'm not going to give away the ending, in case you want to read this book, but be warned it is heart wretching.
