Pirates
by Linda Lael Miller

Someone told me this begins with a woman going back in time by getting on an elevator, so I was curious.
I've read some other romances, but have the same complaints people on Amazon have said about her book "Knights."
The relationship between the leads seems shallow and lacks any strong communication or intimacy. Phoebe gets married to Duncan quickly because she's attracted to him. She read a book about him, but on a personal level knows very little about him.
The lead guy is dangerous and handsome but also emotionally distant, and kind of a jerk. The past history that he has with the Simone character is a bad sign to me. Not a character that I think would actually stay faithful to Phoebe, I was hoping she would consider somebody more level-headed and responsible. Does she want a good relationship or just drama from him that pushes her emotional buttons?
Also, the narrator on more than one occasion describes the lead woman as "bold," but she's actually kind of passive.
